Abstract
This paper refers to a framework using product evolution perspective for analysis of product development strategies and processes used by enterprises. The framework combines information from the patent system with some tools obtained from TRIZ methodology. This methodology, initially developed to solve technical problems and innovate and, more recently, play a strategic role in technology forecasting, may also provide an effective rationale to study product development process. A case study is presented defining the maturity level of a reference product by a proxy of the product S-curve, and by decomposing and analyzing the product along 10 evolution trend lines
